OL Groupe

There are  313 playing members who represent Olympique Lyonnais in 15 men’s teams from the U11s’ through to the first team. The amateur section is one of the largest in France and is a reservoir for the detection of young talent.

This structure is supported by an international training academy that provides players for the first team (Benzema, Clerc, Govou, Grenier, Tafer, etc.).

In 2007/08, 9 young players from the OL academy were selected for various international teams:

• French Under-21 team: Rémy and Paillot.
• European Under-17 Championships: Faure, Reale, Lacazette, Grenier and Tafer (top goal scorer of the competition) competed in the final.
  
• European Under-19 Championships – Elite round: Gonalons and Pied.
  
• Toulon Under-21 tournament: Mounier.

There are 129 players who represent Olympique Lyonnais in 7 women’s teams from the U-11s’ through to the first team.

The women’s first team won its 2nd consecutive French Champion’s title in 2007/08 and, like the men’s team, completed the league and cup double, winning the French Cup final against PSG.

Finally, at the French players’ union awards (Trophée UNFP) Sonia Bompastor, the team captain, was voted women’s footballer of the year.
